What is 'ArtWorld'?

ArtWorld is a 3D interactive space hosted by Masterpiece Technologies Inc.  This space allows you to "walk" within virtual spaces, to view art exhibitions, and to chat with visitors in real time.  We have provided sample views of ArtWorld below.

What can I do in 'ArtWorld'?

Meet fellow art enthusiasts, artists, and collectors and engage in real time conversations. The quality of your exchanges depends only on your internet connection and your "tpying skils".

Attend scheduled talks given by our director and guest lecturers on various art and art historical topics.

Engage in conversations with the artists whose work is on exhibit in ArtWorld and Masterpiece Technologies Inc..

Attend exhibition openings and special events.

We are still constructing new galleries and we are currently installing forthcoming exhibitions featuring the work of Jeanne Wilkinson. In the near future, we will host an exhibition of our other artists and featured contributors. Visit us for more special exhibitions, guest lecturers, programs, and new features. 

How do I enter 'ArtWorld'?

First, you must download the FREE ActiveWorlds browser using one of the methods below: 
(view PC requirements).  

If you already have the browser installed, jump to the directions listed under "Use the ActiveWorlds browser to enter ArtWorld".  If you have any questions or problems during the browser download or installation process, please feel free to contact our support staff directly.


Two methods:

Auto-launch:

1.  Auto-launch the ActiveWorlds plug-in right now.


Download and install:

1.  Active Worlds  Download the FREE ActiveWorlds browser and install it on your computer.  Follow the instructions below: 

2.  'Save this program to disk' and click 'OK' when the dialogue box asks: 'What would you like to do with this file?'

3.  When prompted, save the file to a location on your hard drive. Don't change the name of the file (awb34.exe), just select a folder under 'Save in' and remember where you save it.  The file should start downloading and you should receive a message when the download is complete.  Approximate download time is 5 minutes and this will depend on your internet connection.

 4.  Go to the folder where you saved the awb34.exe file and double-click on the file to install the browser that will allow you to view ArtWorld. Follow the directions on the screen (you may be asked to restart your PC).

Use the ActiveWorlds browser to enter 'ArtWorld':

1.  Connect to the internet and access the browser called "Active Worlds" by selecting 'Start' on your task bar, 'Programs', 'Active Worlds', then finally 'Active Worlds' again.

2.  Select the 'Worlds' tab at the top left of the browser window and scroll down within that window until you see 'ArtWorld' within the list of "Worlds". 

3.  Double click on the word 'ArtWorld' and you will be transported to the starting point in 'ArtWorld'.

4. Walk within 'ArtWorld' by simply moving your mouse (first click the walking person icon which is between the camera and back arrow icons at the top of the browser window) or by pressing the arrow keys on your computer.  You may also mouse click on the appropriate sign to travel to various galleries and exhibitions.

5.  Visitors with Microsoft Internet Explorer® installed on their computers may refer to this page while in 'ArtWorld'.  Simply expand the right hand side of the Active Worlds' browser window.

6.  Experience our 3D environment and its fine artwork!

Masterpiece Technologies Inc. exhibits works in 'ArtWorld' from a selection of artists who are members of the Main Line Art Center in Haverford, PA, November 2000.
