Cooking with
Antiques
Art and Antiques Author
With a Ph.D. in art history, over 100 events
every year and in
home appraisal visits, Dr. Lori reviews approximately 20,000 items a
year. From that education and experience, Dr. Lori writes articles
and books where she reveals the truth about the world of art and antiques.
Dr. Lori's straightforward and honest information
often causes controversy from some antique dealers and antiques resellers
who in Dr. Lori's opinion don't want you to know the truth.
Her articles have sparked phone calls to her office from antique dealer
associations, appraiser's clubs, and representatives from PBS's Antiques
Roadshow. Dr. Lori writes about the misconceptions concerning antiques and
scams in the world of antiques --information gleaned from the real people
that she has met who have fallen victim to such scams.
Dr. Lori's long-awaited next book
Don't Host a Yard Sale! is expected to be
released soon.

Travel and Culture Author
With a bachelor's degree in history from the University of Michigan
at Ann Arbor, a Ph.D. in art history from Penn State University, and more
than 20 years of travel experience across the globe including lecture
assignments on various cruise lines and
guiding educational tour groups, Dr. Lori is a travel and culture authority
and author. She is regularly welcomed by visitor and tourism bureaus to
write about little-known hotspots and to highlight the secrets of
sightseeing.
Native American totem poles in Alaska, High tea at the Princess resort in
Bermuda, Seattle's Space Needle, President Truman's Little White House in
Key West, FL art sites in Florence, Paris, and the Vatican, archaeological
ruins at Pompeii and Ephesus, Greek vases in Greece, the Caribbean
Carnival, and the architecture of St. Petersburg, Russia and Venice, Italy are only some of
the experiences that Dr. Lori shares with her readers. Dr. Lori separates
fact from fiction about the cultural sites and tourist spots the world over
and reveals what destinations to visit and what tourist traps to avoid.

Home and Garden Author
Using her degrees in history and art, her experience as a museum curator
and exhibition designer, and the study of the latest trends in home design
during her regular appearances at Home and Garden shows throughout the United
States as a featured keynote speaker, Dr. Lori is an expert who writes about
home trends, garden design, and symbolism.
Dr. Lori authors articles about the popularity of certain color schemes, how
to visually trick your eye to make your home look bigger or cozier, and what
symbolism specific flowers and plants convey in your garden.

Food and Cooking Author
With a love of chocolate and a knowledge of food history, food
symbolism, and cooking collectibles, Dr. Lori can be seen on various TV
programs preparing (and eating!) her favorite recipes. These recipes include
ingredients, techniques, and fun collectibles that have reflected various
cultures over many centuries.
In her articles and forthcoming book
Cooking with Antiques, Dr. Lori uses
her Ph.D. in art history and experience as an antiques appraiser to show you
why we cook and eat the way we do. As she shares her favorite recipes Dr.
Lori writes about her visits to restaurants across the globe discussing
their menus and history and display of prepared meals. During a restaurant
review, don't be surprised when Dr. Lori reveals that someone mistakenly
painted a wall mural of a Spanish scene next to a table in an Italian
restaurant!

Art & Antiques
Appraiser
With over 100 events
every year and in
home appraisal visits, Dr. Lori reviews approximately 20,000 items a
year.
Unlike most art and antique appraisers, Dr. Lori has a Ph.D. in art
history and DOES NOT have an interest in buying people's objects, thus
ensuring an honest, ethical, and accurate appraisal and evaluation.
|
 |
Some appraisers don't want you to know the true value of an object since
they are interested in buying the object from you at a much lower price
than its actual value. Good business for them, but not for the
general public who has no idea what their items are worth.
If you are interested in selling your items, we suggest
that you receive an independent appraisal from an unrelated third party.
This DOES NOT mean that you should use an appraiser who was referred to
you by a prospective buyer. Once you have an independent appraisal,
you then have the necessary information you need to protect yourself and
properly negotiate when you are selling the item.
