Dr. Lori says:
Viewers continue to write into CBS 3 TV to find out if their items are trash or treasure? This week, we considered some antiques from viewers. Scott from Chalfont, PA asked about his grandparent's china closet. His item is a typical piece made of American hardwoods in the Regency style. Such pieces are typical in the 1940s
in the United States as evidence of the colonial revival in America. Some reproduction sets are even commanding high values today. Sharon from Long Pond, PA asked about what she calls a "candy dish" lamp. The lamp does look like a tier of candy dishes because they once were used as candy dishes before someone, probably a family member, decided to reinvent the piece as a lamp. The piece has more sentimental value than antique value.
Barbara from Folcroft, PA asked about her "coin holder" (shown above) and while it may hold coins, this Victorian piece from circa 1890 to 1901 is actually a charm which would hang on a chantelaine intended to hold a loved one's hair.
