June 2000 Exhibition The New New Hope School: Part I June 2 - June 30, 2000 View Masterpiece Technologies Inc' current exhibition schedule.
Exhibition Catalogue: Masterpiece Technologies Inc is located in the heart of New Hope, Pennsylvania and situated at the entryway to the Delaware Canal where generations of artists set up their easels and painted en plein aire to capture the breathtaking Bucks County, Pennsylvania landscape. This exhibition focuses on the visual wonderment of the Delaware River and Canal and describes the impact that the region had on American Impressionist artists since the late 19th century. Today, the members of the New Hope School remain important models for talented contemporary artists in Bucks County and beyond. Our June and July exhibitions, The New New Hope School: Part I and Part II, provides insight into the prominence of the masters of Pennsylvania Impressionism such as Walter Emerson Baum, Daniel Garber, and Edward Redfield while introducing and revisiting the masterworks of a new generation of Pennsylvania painters. This exhibition features only a few of the fine painters working in the Bucks County region and in the manner of the Pennsylvania Impressionists. Masterpiece Technologies Inc is proud to exhibit works by the finest artists working today in an exhibition that simultaneously displays the achievements of Pennsylvania's masters side by side. This exhibition, The New New Hope School: Part I, will be on view in our New Hope, PA gallery from June 2 through June 30, 2000.
Nolan P. Benner Jr. employs many of the lessons that his teacher, Walter Baum, instilled in him within his own artwork. Showing a strong sense of visual composition and command of a bright Impressionist color palette, Benner's work have enjoyed widespread critical and popular acclaim. His intimate landscape scenes and post-Impressionist forms show Benner's unique ability to convey the beauty of the regional landscape in complimentary colors such as yellow and purple or green and red. You may view Benner's portfolio here.
The only New Hope School artist who was native to Bucks County was Walter Emerson Baum. Baum was a major figure in the early 20th century Pennsylvania art scene and painted his finest works in the early years of his career, circa 1920-1935. An important figure in the scope of Pennsylvania painting and art history, Baum was a masterful painter, accomplished printmaker, and art critic. He was credited not only for his ability to paint scenic Bucks and Lehigh County Pennsylvania landscapes outdoors, but also for his work as a teacher and museum advocate. Baum established the Baum School of Art and the Allentown Art Museum and has impacted generations of artists. Little Stone House shown above is a fine example of Baum's dedication to the landscape subject and his evident mastery of the art of painting. Exhibition curated by Dr. Lori, Director.
