Why Appraisal Gift Certificates make great gifts

The appraisal gift certificate may be just the gift for the person who REALLY has everything!  Maybe you live with or know someone who has accumulated all of this stuff and ... well, there is a dispute to whether it is worth keeping or if it is just collecting dust?  Instead of buying them another object as a gift and adding to the clutter, an appraisal gift certificate may help them "declutterize".

Or maybe your parents are downsizing and you and your siblings are "discussing" who gets what when Mom and Dad move into their retirement home?  Mom and Dad have that one ugly vase that no one wants, but you're afraid to throw it away because ... what if it is worth something?

Purchasing an appraisal gift certificate and finding out what these things are worth may help end your friendly "discussions" about that particular lamp or make sure you are not placing expensive items on the curb to be taken away.  Plus, everyone can be present when the gift certificate is redeemed which can add to the surprise (or disappointment) when certain objects are appraised. If you have attended one of Dr. Lori's What's it Worth? with Dr. Lori programs, you know what to expect.  Learn how you can purchase an appraisal gift certificate for that special someone.

What is an appraisal?

An appraisal is an informed opinion of value (monetary, cultural, historical, etc.).  As with all opinions, its validity depends on the expertise, experience, and educational background of the person providing it.  Additionally, the opinion must be independent with the appraiser having no interest in the value (monetary, cultural, historical, etc.) of the item being appraised.

How do I purchase an Appraisal Gift Certificate?

1. Determine the number of hours that you would like to have Dr. Lori conduct the verbal appraisal. The rate is $500/hour.  Most homes take 1 hour.
2. If the recipient lives outside of the Pennsylvania/New Jersey area, there may be additional travel expenses.  Before we process your payment information we will contact you about any additional travel charges.  Please feel free to contact us with questions.
3. After entering the number of hours below and selecting the 'Select for Purchase' button, you will be provided with directions on how to complete your purchase.  When you are entering your payment information, please enter the recipient's information in the special instructions section so we may enter it in our gift certificate form.  If you would like us to mail the certificate to the recipient, enter the appropriate information in the 'Ship to' section.

How does someone redeem their Gift Certificate?

If someone has purchased an appraisal gift certificate for you, you can redeem it by contacting us here at Masterpiece Technologies Inc. and providing us with the number on the certificate that was presented to you.  You may contact us by email or by phone at (888) 431-1010 to make an appointment with our director and certified appraiser Dr. Lori. At the time of the scheduled appointment, Dr. Lori will travel to the recipient's home or place of business to provide verbal appraisal services for the stated number of hours indicated on the appraisal gift certificate.

All items (fine art, antiques, collectibles, etc.) to be appraised should be presented in an orderly manner with appropriate lighting. Travel expenses will be determined before payment information is processed for the gift certificate. So if you received an appraisal certificate, this information is noted on the information you received. Generally, travel expenses within the suburban Pennsylvania and New Jersey region are included free of charge.  (some restrictions may apply). Read more here.

The appraisal gift certificate is redeemable for verbal appraisal services only (not traditional, written and certified appraisal services) as provided by Dr. Lori, a certified appraiser. Appraisal gift certificates may not be redeemed as cash and have no cash value. Appraisal gift certificates are not transferable and they may not be used for any other Masterpiece Technologies Inc. product or service. An appraisal gift certificate will expire one calendar year after the date of purchase as noted on the certificate.
