How to:
You tell us about your item and submit three photos (front, back, marking). Cell phone photos are acceptable. Fee: $59 for each Online Appraisal report provided per item. All appraisals performed by Ph.D. Antiques Appraiser Dr. Lori and not by an unknown group of so-called experts.

Bring to a Dr. Lori event

What you get:
A verbal value based on what people are really paying for an item like yours, an expert identification of your item from Ph.D. Antiques Appraiser Dr. Lori, a fun event learning about items and their values that you and others bring to the event.

Used for:
Finding out what you have. Finding out what it’s really worth to end your curiosity and research. Providing a starting point to sell your item.

How to:
Bring your item (or photos of larger items) to one of Dr. Lori’s 150 events held every year. View current list of events. Many events offer free appraisals with admission. Most events do NOT require registration. Admission averages $5-$10 per person. Additional verbal appraisals can be purchased for $25/item. Check event details for each event.

Video Call

What you get:
Using your smartphone or computer (view details), schedule a live, interactive video call directly with Ph.D. Antiques Appraiser Dr. Lori to show her your items and to get an expert identification and value. Values provided will be what other people actually paid for items like yours.

Used for:
You have a few items you want appraised. You don’t need it in writing. You don’t want to bring the items to an event.

How to:
Set up an appointment time. Fee: $250 per half hour of appraisals, identifications, and personal consultation with Dr. Lori.

In-Home Visit

What you get:
Ph.D. Antiques Appraiser Dr. Lori visits with you in your home or where the items are located. Verbal appraisals and identifications are provided. Values provided are what people actually pay for items like yours. Personal consultation and questions are answered about how to sell, get rid of, store, protect and move items. Dr. Lori will explain how the antiques and collectibles markets really work. Watch video showing an example of a visit with Dr. Lori.

Used for:
Finding out values, downsizing, settling estates, divorces, preparing to sell items, deciding what items to insure, having family present to decide who gets what.

How to:
Contact us to schedule an appointment. Most visits only take 1 hour since Dr. Lori can review a lot of items in that amount of time. Fee: $999 for one hour. Travel costs are free if you work with Dr. Lori’s travel schedule when she is in your area. Need a special trip? Contact us for a quote.

A formal written insurance appraisal report prepared by Ph.D. Antiques Appraiser Dr. Lori that is required to obtain insurance coverage through your insurance company for items.

Used for:
To properly insure your valuable possessions through your insurance company.

How to:
Contact us to provide details about the item(s). Ph.D. Antiques Appraiser Dr. Lori may need to see the item(s) in person or from photos in order to provide an estimate for the research required to prepare the report to standard. Fee: Costs are provided before research begins and is based on type and number of items included in the formal written insurance appraisal report. Costs are firm once an agreement is signed.
