Gertrude Gazelle Gardner

The American painter, Gertrude Gazelle Gardner (1878-1975) was born near Ft. Dodge, IA and graduated from the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY.

She was a pupil of Henry B. Snell and Anna Fisher. Gardner worked in oil on canvas and produced landscapes completed in plein aire or painted directly from nature. She was also known for her portrait paintings and still lifes.

She was a member of the American Federation of Arts, the National Association of Women Painters and Sculptors, the Pen and Brush Club; the New York Water Color Club; and the American Water Color Society.
